HCV: Polymerase inhibitor program

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne disease caused by Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infecting the liver. Hepatitis or liver inflammation is often asymptomatic, but ensuing chronic hepatitis can result later in cirrhosis and liver cancer.

According to the American Liver Foundation, more than four million Americans have been infected with HCV; responsible for 8,000-10,000 deaths annually.

Potent small molecules identified by Ambrilia:

  • Target polymerase enzyme, involved in viral replication
  • Unmet need due to few late-stage clinical programs and high rate of failure for safety or efficacy issues
