Philippe Calais, Ph.D. Pharm.
President and Chief Executive Officer
An accomplished biotech and pharma leader on an international level during the past 20 years, Dr. Calais has a broad range of expertise in management, drug development and global strategic operations. Dr. Calais’ extensive knowledge and management experience in strategic alliances and drug development in anti-infectives are key in his current role, as well as his familiarity of U.S. markets. He spent most of his career at Hoffman-La Roche (Switzerland). He then moved to Canada to become General Manager of Servier Canada Inc., Prior to joining Ambrilia, Dr. Calais served as President of Global Business with Neurochem. He received his Pharmacy degree and his Doctorate in Pharmacy with Special Honours (Ph.D.) from the Université François Rabelais in Tours, France, and his CESAM degree in statistics as applied to medical research and general methodology from Université Marie Curie in Paris. Dr. Calais is also an Executive Committee member representing Biopharmaceutical Members of the 2008 Board of Directors of Rx&D.
Bonabes de Rougé, M.D.
Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Scientific Officer
Formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of Cellpep S.A., Dr. de Rougé has more than 30 years of experience in the international pharmaceutical industry where he occupied various scientific executive positions with Servier and Beaufour-Ipsen. During the last 20 years, he developed a solid expertise in peptide development and is a seasoned manager of the entire drug development process at the international level. Dr. de Rougé is a Doctor of Medicine and holds a Chemistry-Biology Diploma from Paris University.
Monique Létourneau, CFA, M.Sc.
Executive Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer
With more than twenty four years of experience in finance, Ms. Létourneau has a successful track record in mergers and acquisitions and international financing transactions. During her career, she occupied financial executive positions with Power Corporation of Canada and Le Groupe SGF and is a former member of the M&A group of Samson Bélair Deloitte & Touche. Since joining Ambrilia in 2001 as Executive Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Létourneau has acted as a major player in nine financing transactions and three business acquisitions. She holds a CFA certification and a Masters degree in Finance from the HEC Montreal, Quebec. Also, she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Oxfam-Quebec, a charity organization improving living conditions of the populations of developing countries and a member of the Board of its fair trade subsidiary CEOQI.
Richard La Rue, LL.L, D.D.N.
Vice-President, Legal Affairs, Human Resources and Corporate Secretary
Mr. La Rue is a lawyer with more than 30 years of national and international experience, both as private practitioner and corporate counsel. He has managed all legal aspects and executed complex national and cross-border merger and acquisitions and private and public equity transactions. Since he joined Procyon in 2001, which became Ambrilia in March 2006, he manages its legal affairs and human resources and is also its Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining Ambrilia, Mr. La Rue was Legal Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary for PCI Chemicals Canada Inc. from 1998 to 2001, and also acted as Secretary of Canso Chemicals Inc. and as Assistant Secretary of Pioneer Companies Inc. and Pioneer Americas, Inc. From 1996 to 1998, he was a member of international consultant teams in World Bank and CIDA sponsored projects advising the Republic of Congo and to the Government of Indonesia. From 1987 to 1996, he was Senior Solicitor with Canadian Pacific Ltd., and prior to that he was a private practitioner in civil and commercial law. Mr. La Rue holds a License in law and a Notarial law degree from the University of Montreal. He is a member of the Quebec Bar and of the Canadian Bar Association.
Daniel C. Böck, Ph.D.
Vice-President, Business Development & Licensing
Dr. Böck has a Ph.D. in Microbiology and brings many years experience in research, sales, product management, marketing and business development. Before joining Ambrilia, Dr. Böck held the position of Worldwide Product/Marketing Manager at BioSignal Packard Inc. (a fully owned subsidiary of Packard BioScience - now Perkin Elmer). Previous to this Dr. Böck worked for Millipore Corporation where he held several positions with responsibilities in North America, Europe and Asia. At both companies Dr. Bock successfully managed strategic product portfolios from conceptualization to commercialization.Dr. Böck has a very international background, both personally and professionally. Dr. Böck’s familiarity with different cultures and customs is an additional asset in his business negotiations around the world.
Julie M. Thibodeau, B.Sc., MBA
Director, Communications
During the last 8 years, Ms. Thibodeau gained a vast experience in investor relations, corporate affairs and communication within publicly listed companies in the biotech/pharma and IT industries. Prior to joining Ambrilia, she was Manager, Investor Relations at Axcan Pharma Inc. Before that, she spent 5 years at CNC Inc., a start-up software company, where she was Director, Public and Investor Relations, and subsequently held the position of Vice-President, Corporate and Legal Affairs. Ms. Thibodeau holds a Masters in Business Administration in finance from the HEC Montreal and Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology. She is a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) and a member of the Board of Directors of CIRI Quebec.
